Hello, I am Marco Daeron Ventura
I was born on a dark but not-so-stormy night in 1986, in the stormy yet not-so-dark province of Turin.
I’ve always loved “stories,” and even as a child, I would correct my parents and grandparents when they skipped or changed parts of bedtime tales. Every character and every moment deserves its proper space to make a story memorable and worthy of being told. And yes, being a Virgo, I’m quite the perfectionist (my Leo rising doesn’t help either—it only makes things worse).
After an unremarkable high school career, I went on to study Film History, and the scent of university life awakened my passion for learning and storytelling once and for all.
Armed with a thesis on Woody Allen’s screenplays, a few short films, and a head full of dreams, I took a sharp turn and enrolled at the International School of Comics in Turin, where I studied under Manfredi Toraldo, Massimiliano Valentini, and Claudio Chiaverotti.
After earning my diploma, I dove headfirst into the world of comics, juggling day jobs with nighttime writing, dabbling in armed robbery (just kidding!) and crafting screenplays with unarmed pens.
Always looking forward, never looking back.
Beyond writing, I ventured into another field closely tied to the world of books: editorial design.
I became a professional letterer (to date, I’ve lettered over 15,000 comic pages!) and a book designer.
If writing a script or a story is about bringing order to the chaos of ideas, lettering and designing a book or comic is about shaping raw creative material into a cohesive, polished whole.
The only thing I can’t seem to keep in order is my house.
My first official publication as an author dates back to 2009. Since then, I’ve been living to write and writing to live, wading through the mud of daily challenges. In addition to comics and general fiction, I’ve worked in advertising, cinema, video games, traditional games, and teaching.
I founded my own small publishing label (MDV Studio), co-founded a publishing house (ManFont), collaborated with Shockdom and Poliniani, and am currently part of the editorial teams at Gigaciao and GearGames.
Between the 28th and 30th hours of my day, I also teach History and Language of Comics at art academies and high schools (in Piedmont).
I’ve developed professional skills in graphic design, lettering, and editing. I love working with other authors and thrive in team environments. There’s no “I,” only “we” when collaborating with others, especially with the illustrators and colorists who are essential to bringing a comic project to life.
What else can I say about myself? I love cats, Magic Johnson’s assists, tuna pizza, role-playing games, and a good Guinness at any time of the day. But most of all, I love storytelling in all its forms. I’m passionate about creating worlds and characters and living among them.
